Oregon’s Lemolo and Diamond Lake: Trout Season Opens April 28

   04.17.12

Lemolo Reservoir and Diamond Lake trout season opens Saturday, April 28.

Diamond Lake is covered with snow and ice about one to three feet deep. Anglers who start the season ice fishing are reminded that man-made ice holes can be no larger than 12 inches in diameter. The harvest limit is eight legal-sized trout per day with one trout over 20 inches.

Both the North boat ramp and the Resort’s boat ramp have been plowed. Contact Diamond Lake Resort for current ice conditions at 1-800-733-7593.

At Lemolo Reservoir, the road to the dam is plowed, and the road into Poole Creek Campground could be plowed by April 28. Much of the reservoir is covered in ice, but the dam area has open water. Fish stocking begins when Poole Creek access is plowed.

Many other area lakes and reservoirs have been stocked and anglers can check the trout stocking schedule on the ODFW Web site at www.dfw.state.or.us.
