Video: How Many Tahr Can You Spot in This Clip?

How many critters can you spot at the beginning of this video? There are probably more than you think. Lots of animals have earned the right to call themselves masters of disguise, but few are as good at the art of camouflage as the common tahr.

Once found only in the mountains of the Himalayas, the tahr has now been introduced to new locations like New Zealand, South Africa, and if you get really lucky, you’ll even run across one in the Southwestern United States. Related to the wild goat, this sturdy ungulate is at home in rocky, mountainous areas. They are also a prized game animal, although trying to find one may be a tall order.

The video above may be a bit old, but it is a stunning demonstration of the tahr’s ability to blend in with its environment.
