Ewan McGregor, Star of Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, Tries to Prove He Can Cast a Fly Fishing Rod

Ewan McGregor is no doubt a good actor, but can he actually do some of the things we see in his movies? In the newly released movie Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, Ewan McGregor plays Dr. Alfred Jones, a fisheries expert approached on behalf of a Yemeni sheik to bring the sport of fly-fishing to the desert.

So can McGregor actually fly fish? McGregor got called out by British talk show host Graham Norton on the subject, who asked him to prove it on air. It’s been a few months since McGregor filmed Salmon Fishing in the Yemen but he tried his hand at the cast anyway. Watch to find out if he makes it or busts.
