FNH USA Expands FN 15 Line, Introduces FNS Compacts

This year, FNH USA is building out its line of FN 15 ARs and adding two impressive compact contenders to the pistol market.
The 5.56x45mm FN 15 series is moving beyond the boundaries of basic rifle and carbine models and into some exciting territory. Three of the five new models feature M-LOK handguards, and each FN 15 sports a high-quality, chrome-lined barrel and a railed, flattop upper receiver. Specific details for each new model are as follows.
FN 15 Tactical Carbine
The FN 15 Tactical Carbine features a match grade 16-inch barrel, midlength gas system, and a Midwest Industries 12-inch M-LOK handguard. It includes polymer Magpul MBUS front and rear sights, an FNH USA three-prong flash hider, and a Magpul MOE SL buttstock. It weighs only 6.6 pounds unloaded. Its MSRP will be $1,479.
FN 15 DMR
The FN 15 DMR is the finely-tuned 5.56 cannon of the company’s new rifles. It sports an 18-inch, match grade barrel and a rifle length gas system. The barrel is topped with a SureFire ProComp 556 brake. The DMR is also equipped with a 15-inch Midwest Industries M-LOK handguard with a Picatinny top rail and MBUS Pro steel backup sights. Rounding out the rifle are a Magpul STR stock and MOE pistol grip, along with a Timney Competition Trigger. It tips the scales at 7.2 pounds. The DMR’s MSRP is $1,899.
FN 15 MOE SLG
The MOE SLG makes full use of Magpul’s new SL line, including a MOE SL buttstock, handguard (with M-LOK attachment points), and pistol grip. The MOE SLG features a 16-inch alloy steel barrel topped with a conventional A2 flash hider. It comes with a polymer MBUS rear sight and utilizes a carbine length gas system. The MOE SLG weighs 6.8 pounds and will retail for $1,199.
FN 15 Sporting
The FN 15 Sporting is similar to the DMR model, but with a few differences. It’s got an 18-inch barrel and rifle length gas system. Instead of an M-LOK piece, the Sporting comes with a Samson Evolution 15-inch handguard. It has the same SureFire brake as the DMR, along with a Timney Competition Trigger. The Sporting model is equipped with a Magpul CTR stock and MOE pistol grip and weighs 7.7 pounds. Its MSRP is $1,749.
FN 15 Patrol Carbine
The Patrol Carbine is another carbine length entry in the FN 15 line. It has a 16-inch alloy steel barrel topped with an A2 hider, a Samson flipup rear sight, six-position M4-style collapsible stock, and a Midwest Industries seven-inch quad rail. It weighs 6.6 pounds. The MSRP for the Patrol Carbine is $1,219.
FNS-9 and FNS-40 Compacts
FNH USA is also introducing two double-stack compact models of its popular FNS line of striker-fired pistols. As you can infer from their names, compact versions of the pistol in 9x19mm and .40 S&W are being brought to market. Both will sport 3.6-inch stainless steel barrels and frame-mounted accessory rails. The 9mm model has a capacity of 17+1, while the .40 can hold 14+1. The 9mm will ship with one 17-round magazine and two 12-rounders, the .40 with one 14-round mag and two 10-round mags. Both will retail for $599.
The FN 15 rifles are an excellent choice for someone looking to purchase a complete AR somewhere between entry level offerings and super-expensive museum grade guns. I’m finishing up a review on the FN 15 Rifle to be published shortly, and I was nothing short of impressed with it. The Compacts will give other striker-fired handguns a run for their money, and I look forward to reading review of them.
