Video: Make Your Own “Augmented Reality” Topo Map with Sand
OutdoorHub 04.20.15
Remember when kids played in a sandbox instead of on controllers in front of a TV? Well, researchers have found a way to combine video games with good old-fashioned sand, and its applications go far beyond just play for kids. This is the Augmented Reality Sand Table, a concept under development by both private university and military researchers. Eventually, scientists hope to be able to utilize the technology to project real-time topographical maps in the field, or to be used to study freshwater streams and watersheds. One day, it may even be used to plan out your next hunting or fishing trip.
What other uses can you think of for this kind of tech?
