Video: Angler Loses Pike to Hungry Snapping Turtle

Of all the voracious predators you could lose your catch to, snapping turtles are not usually at the top of the list. Well, tell that to this determined reptile. After spotting a pike on the line, the snapping turtle decides to clamp onto the fish’s tail and hold on for dear life.

It even got a head start on descaling the fish before the angler decided to be magnanimous and offer the turtle a free meal.

Both common and alligator snapping turtles will eat just about anything they can wrap their jaws around. Sometimes, this can even include fingers. Anglers are advised to be wary around these irritable turtles, lest they mistake one of your digits for prey.
