Video: Bobcat Escapes Mountain Lion by Jumping atop 40-foot Cactus

It’s a cat-eat-cat world out there, and mountain lions are not above snacking on their smaller cousins if they get the chance. One such pursuit ended with a bobcat scrambling up a 40-foot saguaro cactus in Arizona’s Sonoran Desert.
“The lion didn’t pursue the bobcat up the cactus but circled the base,” photographer Curt Fonger, who took photos of the scene back in 2011, told the Daily Mail. “It looked up at the bobcat, growled several times, then turned around and trotted back up from where it had come.”
The mountain lion probably didn’t think its prey was worth the trouble of getting prickled, but the bobcat didn’t seem to mind. Fonger said the feline actually spent several hours perched on top of the cactus, taking in some sun and stretching, before coming back down.
It’s almost like a big scratching post.
