Video: Angler Pulls Massive Surprise Out of the Ice

When it comes to ice fishing, just about everything is a surprise, but there’s no better surprise than a massive fish. From the first moment that you see it poke its mouth out of the water to the realization that your hole is much too small, big fish are part of why anglers brave the chilly weather each and every year.

We didn’t want to spoil the surprise, but the video’s thumbnail gives it away. What was the largest pike you’ve ever pulled from the ice? This lady angler did get some scrutiny over the apparent stiffness of her catch—with some even accusing her of filming a dead fish—but any angler worth their salt would know that fish slow down during the winter. Just like anything else would in freezing water.
