Video: Giant 200-year-old Salamander Found in Chinese Cave

Most amphibians never grow over a foot long, but the Chinese giant salamander anything but normal.
This nearly five-foot-long salamander was found inside of a cave near the city of Chongqing. According to official estimates, the amphibian weighs 52 kilograms, or 114 pounds. This particular salamander is also estimated to be up to 200 years old. Police took the salamander so it could be protected and studied by researchers.
The Chinese giant salamander is a critically endangered species.
