Video: Deaf Man Explains How He Saved Drowning Deer
OutdoorHub Reporters 12.29.15
Sometimes you don’t need to understand someone’s language to realize they are a small-scale hero.
After this man spotted a deer drowning in a river he stopped everything to try and save it. He even risked his own life by crawling out onto the ice to get a rope around the deer. After some effort he was able to pull the deer out and that’s when he started filming this quick video. The deer looks pretty cold, but hopefully it will be able to make a quick recovery thanks to the help of this hearing-impaired hero.
In case you don’t speak ASL here’s a quick translation of what he was saying:
I was driving along when I see this deer struggling to survive. I felt obligated to help her, so I pulled over, trekked through the woods, and crawled out onto the ice. I used a rope to pull her out. I am so glad she is safe. Now we need to find her mom.
[After he pets deer] I will call her Miss Ice River. She must be so cold. I am so happy that she survived. Farewell.
