Looking for something a little bit different for your AR? Wooden furniture for America’s most iconic black rifle has always been a divisive issue. Some people don’t like the way it looks, some don’t like the way it feels, and others don’t like how the weight it adds to the weapon. All that aside, there is little doubt that the right combination of materials and craftsmanship can make wood furniture look very, very nice. Wood has that certain timeless look that reinforced molded polymer just doesn’t have—and although some traditionists may say that wooden furniture has no place on an AR, we think the items in this list are very appealing.

We wouldn’t say that wooden furniture for ARs has become a fad, but a number of manufacturers have started producing kits to pander to a small fanbase. These include Windham Weaponry, Precision Firearms, LUCID, and more. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can order a full set off Brownells or another retailer for $200 or less. Some people with some woodcrafting experience have also built their own, but it can be very time intensive indeed.
