Drifting a 68-ton Abrams tank would not be possible without some ice and a talented driver.
U.S. Marine tankers, working with the Norwegian Telemark Battalion, learned to drift their Abrams on ice in Rena, Norway last week. The Marines are there as part of Cold Response 16, an exercise intended to train the troops to be proficient in cold weather operations as well as develop bilateral interoperability with Norway’s military. However, that doesn’t mean that can’t have some fun during their training.
At least you don’t have to worry about getting stuck in a snow drift with two treads and a 1500 HP gas turbine at your disposal.
