Photos: Blue Ice Piling up Near Michigan’s Mackinaw Bridge

A Michigan resident snapped these incredible pictures of blue ice piling up near the Mackinaw bridge.

Kelly Alvesteffer, a photographer, shared photos on Facebook of the ice below the bridge over the weekend, and her photos were also posted on the Mackinac Bridge website.The blue ice in the pictures is caused by snow and ice compressing. When the ice is compressed the air bubbles escape which allows for larger ice crystals. You can view the rest of these breathtaking images here.
