Video: Trophy Deer Hears Rabbit Explode, Goes Back to Eating

This deer apparently didn’t get the message. When you hear what sounds like an artillery round hitting the ground behind you, most people would scramble for cover. Deer, being the flighty, alert creatures they are, would generally be two counties over by the time your check unsticks from your rifle.
Not this buck. It more or less shrugs and goes back to lunch as if nothing happened. Of course, that wasn’t true for the rabbit behind it, which was essentially vaporized. That’s what happens when you hit small game with rounds meat to bring down larger animals—in this case 7mm Magnum.
“To make a long story short, my son dropped my rifle one week before this hunt and did not tell me it was dropped, after making two repetitive shots with custom loads, I knew it was not me,” the uploader wrote on YouTube. “15 minutes later, buck came back out and I had a chance to get my other gun from my truck and harvest him, however I did not film the fatal shot, but I have pictures.”
It just goes to show that if you literally managed to dodge a bullet, you probably shouldn’t stay in the same spot.
