Apparently this is a standard maintenance procedure in Zimbabwe—and perhaps parts of Australia. Finding a massive snake coiled up on top of your battery isn’t a common occurrence in most of North America, but in regions where these animals are common, it does present an unusual hazard. The warm, cozy environment of the engine compartment can be very tempting to some of these flexible reptiles. There have been a few cases in Florida where motorists tried starting up their car only to find a python wrapped around their engines, causing it to overheat.
Thankfully in this case, removing the animal did not appear to be difficult. This video was reportedly filmed in Zimbabwe by what appears to be a safari guide service.
