Video: This Tiny Robot Packs a 9mm Glock

While lawmakers are still discussing the ramifications of drones carrying pistols, it seems that one company is exploring the potential of arming remote-controlled vehicles with Glocks. No, this is not a very late April Fool’s joke: An Israeli company by the name of General Robotics is actually developing a line of miniature robots armed with Glocks. It’s called the DOGO, and it is anything but a toy.
“The DOGO Robot is a light robot, armed with a 9mm Glock pistol,” General Robotics stated on its website. “It is your robotic ‘watch dog’ at the field.”
According to specifications released by the company, the DOGO is equipped with eight separate cameras and has full 360-degree day and night vision. The drone weighs 26.5 pounds and has a maximum speed of 2.5 mph. It is designed to be highly mobile, and on its current battery has a maximum operation time of 5 hours. Currently the drone is configured to accept and use a Glock 26.
The primary advantage of the robot is to reduce risk to its operators, who control the drone through a remote device.
“The DOGO Robot provides your team with live video reconnaissance and the ability to neutralize threats remotely via a simple and intuitive operator control unit,” General Robotics concluded. “[It is] the ultimate robot for SWAT and special operation teams, law enforcement agencies, and first responders.”
