Underwater Video: Free-Swimming 20-Pound Largemouth

Mike Long is well known among big-bass fanatics. He’s one of a handful of California anglers who have gained a national reputation for chasing and catching Golden State largemouths that have grown to absurd proportions, typically on a diet of stocked rainbow trout.

Long has hundreds of double-digit largemouths to his credit, including a 20-pound, 12-ounce monster he caught on Dixon Lake in 2001. The fish currently rests in 10th position in the record book.

So, what does a 20 pounder look like? Long recently posted this underwater video on his Facebook page—a 28-second clip of a humongous free-swimming largemouth. If it doesn’t go 20, it has to be darn close.

Despite several comments asking for details on the whereabouts of this giant, the secretive Long has maintained the long tradition of the trophy-hunter’s code and has remained totally silent.
