Florida Man Blinded by Unlikely Injury From Catfish

A man in Florida was fishing during the summer when he suffered a very unlikely injury from a catfish.
The Bradenton Herald reported that Kory Williams felt a fish on his line and then gave it a big tug when a catfish came flying out of the water and flew right toward his face. The fish stuck him right in the eye with its “inch-long spines,” he said.
Kory has had three surgeries since, and has had to miss time at work due to his injury.
We’ve seen two different instances now where catfish have hit people in the face unexpectedly, so be on the lookout folks!
The biggest takeaway from Mr. Williams’ story is how important eye protection is while fishing. It protects your eyes from harmful UV rays, as well as fish that come flying out of the water.
