Two-headed sharks, it sounds like either the title of a science fiction movie or a new craft beer. Either way, these strange beasts are actually showing up more than you want to believe.
Recently, scientists in Spain made a shocking new discovery; a shark embryo with two heads. Now, there’s nothing ordinary about two-headed sharks, but this particular embryo was not your average beast.
The two-headed catfish shark embryo is the first known specimen from an oviparous (egg laying) shark species.
Scientists are not exactly sure what causes these mutations, however, some point to overfishing to blame. Whatever the cause, if you were looking for another reason not to swim in the ocean, two headed sharks ought to do it.
