Now that Donald Trump is President, everyone is on the edge of their seats waiting to see if the Hearing Protection Act will actually pass, taking silencers off the National Firearms Act (NFA).

Up to this date, 42 states have legalized suppressors. If the HPA should remove suppressors from the NFA, the states that do allow people to own them could potentially restrict them considering they will no longer come with the burden of tax stamps, registration and extensive waiting periods caused by massive stacks of paperwork.

There are two other things worth noting here. The first being, SilencerCo’s CEO and founder, Joshua Waldron, has been named to President Trump’s Second Amendment Coalition of advisers on gun policy.

The second noteworthy detail is, on Congress.gov, the Hearing Protection Act is the third most-viewed bill on the website, and it was number one last week. The list is compiled each Monday from the previous week’s metrics.
