Fishery Managers Extend Chinook Season Above Bonneville Dam in Oregon

Salmon fishermen will get another four days to get out and catch a spring chinook under a season extension approved today by fishery managers from Oregon and Washington.
The extended season applies to the Columbia from Bonneville Dam upstream to the Oregon/Washington border. Originally set to close on May 3, the season was extended through May 6 due to high river flows, poor fishing conditions and low catch rates. Catch projections indicated that through May 2 anglers were on track to have taken only 14 percent of their preseason allocation of 1,700 upriver chinook.
The season extension applies on the Columbia from Bonneville Dam to the Oregon/Washington border with the same rules and area restrictions previously in effect.
