Homeowners in Hillsborough, California, had a close encounter with a mountain lion in the middle of the night, and the town is buzzing over the video.
Mary Mines and Peter Rauenbuehler were both sound asleep when suddenly they woke up to the sound of loud noises coming from outside their window. Little did they know, there was a mountain lion hunting a deer on their front porch.
They didn’t see it, but they say they heard what they believe was the mountain lion slamming the deer onto their metal fence. ABC 7 San Francisco reports.
“I didn’t have my glasses on, so when I looked through the peephole I thought it was a coyote,” said Mines. “And I turned to Peter and I said, ‘There’s a coyote on our front porch,’ because we have a lot here. I opened the door and I looked and I said, ‘That’s not a coyote, that’s a much bigger animal.'”
Mines quickly shut the door, and the couple watched from a window as the big mountain lion dragged a deer it had just killed off their porch! Meanwhile, their surveillance cameras recorded everything.
@liliankim7 @abc7newsbayarea OMG! Humans have to stop building houses, where animals call home.
