Video: Massive Mille Lacs Muskie Caught in Cold Weather

This is how Mille Lacs Lake does muskie fishing. If you’re an avid angler, and like to pursue muskies, chances are you’ve heard the stories of Mille Lacs.

This lake, located about 100 miles north of Minneapolis, Minnesota, is known for producing some awesome fish, especially muskies. (Check out this OHUB story about Mille Lacs smallmouth, too.) As you will see in this video, the cold weather doesn’t stop Hoyer Fishing from getting out and landing one of the biggest muskies we’ve seen this year.

Judging by the size of this fish, it’s probably a good thing they caught it before the water freezes. I’ve never dealt with a muskie that big before, but at 52.5 inches long and 28.75 inches of girth, I have to imagine getting that thing through an ice hole is easier said than done.
