Maine Moose Deadline Approaching

The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife wants to remind everyone that this year’s lottery for a Moose Permit closes on May 14^th. Paper applications were due in April and the only way to still get your name in the pot for a permit is by applying on-line.

“We would encourage people to apply as soon as possible and avoid the chance they might miss the opportunity to participate. The deadline is rapidly approaching” said Chandler Woodcock, Commissioner of the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

The State of Mainewill award 3,725 permits to take a moose this year. Applications must be submitted by 11:59 pm on May 14^th.

This year winners will be announced at the annual Moose Lottery Festival to be held in Oquossoc. The Rangeley Lakes Region has planned 3 days of events surrounding the drawing.  The annual Moose hunt takes place from September 24^th to November 24^th, depending on the wildlife management district.
