Orem, UT – Gold Tip shooters continue to dominate the ASA Pro Tour, with Levi Morgan and Tim Gillingham taking first and second place, respectively, in the Men’s Pro Division at the recent Augusta, GA event, held April 27-29. At the outdoor 3-D event, Pro Division contestants shoot two rounds of twenty targets, from unmarked distances that vary up to 50 yards. The five highest scores from the first two rounds qualify for the shoot-off to decide the winner.
Launching himself to the front of the pack and never looking back during the first two rounds, Levi Morgan held an 11 point lead heading into the shoot-off on the final day, ultimately winning the Pro Division by seven points.
“I tried to be patient, play it safe and catch a streak. As it turned out I actually caught a couple good streaks to take an early lead,” said Morgan. “Going into the shoot-off I knew it would be tough to fend everyone off; it was one of my toughest yet, but the Gold Tip’s were flying consistent, like always, and it came together.”
This is Morgan’s second win in a row, coming off his recent NFAA Indoor National Championship, in Louisville, KY, March 31-April 1.
Entering the shoot-off in fifth place, veteran pro, Tim Gillingham, battled his way back into the second place position, behind fellow Gold Tip shooter, Levi Morgan. Both Morgan and Gillingham were shooting Gold Tip Triple X Pro Shafts throughout the event.
Gold Tip shooters competing in the Women’s Pro Division had an impressive showing, accounting for five of the top ten finishes in Augusta. Leading the way for Gold Tip was Sonya Wright, placing second overall. Samantha Morgan, wife of Levi Morgan, held on for a third place finish after nailing a fourteen ring on her final arrow of the shoot-off. Both women were using Gold Tip Ultralight Pro 500 and 600 spine shafts.
“From one end of the shooting spectrum to another, competitors are finding success with Gold Tip arrows, “ said Greg Poole, Gold Tip Marketing Manager. “ We couldn’t be happier for our shooters. It just shows our product’s consistent ability to perform on so many different levels.”
