Cabela’s was born of humble roots in 1961, when Dick Cabela devised a plan to sell fishing flies by running a classified ad in the Casper, Wyoming newspaper. Today, Cabela’s has grown into one of the world’s leading outfitters of hunting, fishing, and outdoor gear. As a member of the NRA Corporate Partners Program, Cabela’s has worked closely with the NRA over the years and supports a number of Association programs including the National Firearms Museum, Hunting and Wildlife Conservation, Disabled Shooting, Women’s Programs, NRA Youth Hunter Education Challenge, and The NRA Foundation. Cabela’s also participates in the NRA Add-a-Buck program and has been a significant supporter of Friends of NRA. Cabela’s support now exceeds more than one million dollars in cash.
An early devotion to firearms and the outdoors
Having grown up in Newport News, Virginia, Millner exhibited a passion for firearms and hunting at an early age, and after years in the furniture business became as chief executive officer of Remington a leader in the outdoors and firearms industry. Millner joined Cabela’s in 2009 to lead the World’s Foremost Outfitter of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear.
Cabela’s Incorporated, headquartered in Sidney, Nebraska, is a leading specialty retailer, and the world’s largest direct marketer, of hunting, fishing, camping and related outdoor merchandise. Since the Company’s founding in 1961, Cabela’s has grown to become one of the most well-known outdoor recreation brands in the world, and has long been recognized as the World’s Foremost Outfitter. Joining the Golden Ring of Freedom is a great milestone, signifying the true nature of the partnership between Cabela’s and the NRA.”
