Video: A Tribute to the First Responders of 9/11

September 11, 2001, was a day that no American will ever forget.
Death, destruction, hatred and fear were cast upon our Nation when terrorists carried out deadly attacks on the World Trade Centers in the heart of New York City. Images will forever be burned in our memories as paramedics, fire fighters and police officers all rushed to the scene with no regard for their own safety.
Most of those who perished were civilians, except for 343 firefighters and 71 law enforcement officers who died in the World Trade Center, and on the ground in New York City. One law enforcement officer died when United Airlines Flight 93 crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and 55 military personnel died at the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia.
As first responders, the only thing on their minds was helping others in a time of tragedy.
This is 9/11 by the numbers: (these numbers are approximate)
The first two are indelible, as almost everyone who remembers that horrific day can nearly pinpoint exactly where they were standing when they watched it happen: 8:46 a.m. and 9:02 a.m.
Number of firefighters and paramedics killed: 343
Number of police officers killed: 60
Number of civilians killed: 3,000
We will never forget, how in that smoke’s silver lining stood a line of blue, a line of red, and a line of white to show the world these colors DON’T RUN.
