Vermont Poaching Suspect Accused of Dragging Illegally Killed Moose 11 Miles Behind Truck

A young man in Vermont is facing legal repercussions after brutally – and illegally – killing a female moose out of season.
Gerin Fortin, 20, was charged with a total of six violations relating to a poaching case that gained traction due to the cruel nature of the crimes. According to GrindTV, the young man has been accused of shooting a female moose from his pickup truck, and then chaining it to the back and dragging it for “more than 11 miles.”
A news release states that Fortin’s pickup truck, rifle, ammunition, and truck chains have all been seized and entered as evidence.
The suspect is due to appear in front of a Superior Court judge on December 26. He is subject to serving 1 year in jail and forced to pay $8,000 in fines.
