Patagonia Blasts President Trump on Its Website: ‘The President Stole Your Land’

Anybody who stopped by Patagonia’s website yesterday to pick out a jacket for the approaching winter weather was hit with a message they probably didn’t expect.
In place of their typical homepage was a black screen with huge white letters that read a striking message: “The President Stole Your Land.”
They’re referring to President Trump’s decision to shrink two national monuments located in Utah by a reported 2 million acres.
Obviously, the outdoor outfitter Patagonia isn’t pleased with Trump’s order. The message on their homepage continued:
“In an illegal move, the president just reduced the size of Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments. This is the largest elimination of protected land in American history.”
The Washington Post reports that 10 conservation groups have already filed suit against Trump, Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, and Bureau of Land Management Director Brian Steed. These groups include the National Resources Defense Council, the Sierra Club, and the Grand Canyon Trust.
A long court battle is likely to ensue, and it will be based on the belief that Trump cannot legally revoke the land’s monument status.
All of this is in reaction to Trump’s order to slash the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument by over 800,000 acres, as well as the Bears Ears National Monument by more than 1.1 million acres, according to The Washington Post.
