Video: Bass Smashes Through the Ice to Gulp Topwater Lure
OutdoorHub Reporters 02.07.18
Just because the surface of the water freezes during winter, doesn’t mean topwater lures lose their flare!
This video was actually taken before the heavy ice set in on the lakes, but it still demonstrates how, at least some bass, won’t let a thin layer of ice stand between them and a juicy topwater lure.
If this doesn’t get your blood boiling for spring/summer bass fishing . . . check your pulse:
(Turn up the volume to hear the fish break through the ice)
Dreaming of summer yet?
It’s always right around the tail-end of winter, when I find myself chomping at the bit to ditch my tip-ups and break out the trusty rod and reel again, so I will definitely be giving this a try!
It looks like this angler was actually just using a plastic worm, and dragging it across the ice, but it got that fish’s attention regardless.
