A new overpass stretching across highway I-90 in Spokane, Washington, is currently under construction to help keep animals out of harm’s way.
In an effort to keep elk, deer and bears off the busy roadway, Washington State officials reportedly invested millions of dollars into creating these natural bridges for animals to travel easier and safer.
“You’re improving safety, you’re relieving congestion and you’re also looking at the environmental aspects,” Meagan Lott of Washington State Department of Transportation stated.
According to KIRO7, the overpass cost the state $6.2 million, and is said to be completed sometime in 2019.
