Breaking News: DICK’S Sporting Goods Will No Longer Sell “Assault Rifles” & Increases Age for Purchasing Firearms to 21

One of the nation’s largest sporting goods retailers, DICK’S Sporting Goods, has announced they will immediately pull all firearms like the one used in the Parkland school shooting off their shelves.
In a letter, which was posted to their Facebook page, CEO Ed Stack lists the changes being made within all DICK’S and Field & Stream stores.
Here’s an excerpt from the letter:
“Beginning today, DICK’S Sporting Goods is committed to the following:
- We will no longer sell assault-style rifles, also referred to as modern sporting rifles. We had already removed them from all DICK’S stores after the Sandy Hook massacre, but we will now remove them from sale at all 35 Field & Stream stores.
- We will no longer sell firearms to anyone under 21 years of age.
- We will no longer sell high capacity magazines.
- We never have and never will sell bump stocks that allow semi-automatic weapons to fire more rapidly.“

Stack was also seen on ABC’s Good Morning America Wednesday morning, and revealed a major reason why he’s making the move. Apparently, the 19-year-old shooter had previously purchased a gun at a DICK’S store, however Stack points out the firearm – a shotgun – was not the gun used during the shooting, but he added it was a major factor in making the decision.
