Video: A Bald Eagle Snatching a Rabbit From a Fox’s Mouth Captured in Jaw-Dropping Images

A bald eagle snatching a red fox’s meal was captured in a series of jaw-dropping photos, and on video as they fought tooth and claw 20 feet in the air.
The dramatic and rare encounter at San Juan Island National Historic Park, located in Washington state, was documented by Kevin Ebi and Zachary Hartje, of LivingWilderness.com.
In the blogpost, Ebi says they spent the day watching over a meadow as several kits (young foxes) hunted for rabbit. This is his account of the moments leading up to the action:
“About 15 minutes later, a red fox caught a rabbit and was carrying it across the meadow. I panned my camera with it to capture the action. Then behind me, I heard the cry of a bald eagle. I turned around and saw it approaching fast. I knew it wanted the rabbit. I intently trained my camera on the fox bracing for a split second of action.“
But, what he thought would only be a quick photo op, turned into 8 seconds of wildlife photography gold. And we just saw a very similar scene just a few weeks ago!

Ebi added at the end of the blog, “Don’t worry: the fox was fine. It shook off the encounter and resumed playing with its fellow kits. I took several pictures of it after the ordeal and couldn’t find a single scratch.”
