‘I Was Annoyed’: Canadian Woman, 95, Finds Black Bear in Her Kitchen Twice in One Day

B.C. wildlife officers responded to a home invasion call one afternoon, where a 95-year-old Canadian woman said a black bear entered her home twice in one day.
CTV News reports Anna Stady, of Vancouver Island, was home alone watching television when she heard a racket coming from what sounded like inside the house. She got up, poked around the house a little, and was eventually greeted by a black bear rummaging through the kitchen.
Stady, however, was not fazed in the slightest.
“I was annoyed,” she told CTV Vancouver Island. “I told him to go and then he just went about halfway to the backyard and I said ‘No! Go home!'”
The bear eventually vacated her yard, but would return a short time later to finish what it started.
And this time, the bear made a big mess. . . snooping inside cupboards, spilling food on the floor and completely destroying her sugar bin.
“He made a regular mess,” she recalled. “I was really annoyed with him and I told him to go. He looked at me and then he grabbed something, I don’t know what it was, and ran out.”
The officers who responded, then set up a bear trap outside of Stady’s home, hopeful the bear will return.
Black bears are generally afraid of humans, and will often try to avoid any human contact at all cost. They can be unpredictable though, and if startled or cornered, can be very dangerous.
The local wildlife agency asks all residents in the area to keep doors closed, and not leave any food out.
This woman’s cordial encounter with a black bear might remind you of another friendly run in with a bear that happened in Canada not too long ago:
