Bridge Construction on Pointe-aux-Chenes W.M.A. Requires Access Closures in Louisiana

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) is advising the public that bridge construction across the eastern water control structure on the Montegut Management Unit has closed that structure to public access on Pointe-aux-Chenes Wildlife Management Area (WMA). The closure is due to public safety concerns as construction vehicles and equipment work on the structure during the project.
Bridge construction is expected to be completed in September. LDWF staff has posted the restricted area around the construction site on the WMA. The Terrebonne Levee and Conservation District is coordinating the construction.
Pointe-aux-Chenes WMA is located Terrebonne and Lafourche Parishes, southeast of Houma.
