Slippery Situation: Hawaiian Monk Seals Keep Getting Eels Lodged in Their Noses
OutdoorHub Reporters 12.06.18
You might be having a bad week, but at least you aren’t dealing with an eel stuck up your nose. . . That’s right, the Hawaiian Monk Seal Research Program posted on Facebook reporting a phenomenon which was first witnessed a few years ago. Apparently, Hawaiian Monk Seals keep getting eels lodged in their noses, and it’s one of the most cringe-worthy photos we’ve laid eyes on all week.
Like we mentioned earlier, this isn’t the first reported case of this happening. Researchers with the Hawaiian Monk Seal Research Program stated “we have now found juvenile seals with eels stuck in their noses on multiple occasions. In all cases the eel was successfully removed and the seals were fine. The eels, however, did not make it.”
