Woman Lands 88-Pound Kentucky Lake River Monster

A woman fishing in Tennessee closed out 2018 with a bang after reeling in a giant 88-pound ‘River Monster’ catfish on Kentucky Lake. The details behind landing this Kentucky Lake river monster have not been revealed, but the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency shared a post on Facebook highlighting Paula Cathey Smith’s “personal best” catch.

And yes, the TWRA confirmed the Kentucky Lake river monster was “released safely” back into the lake.

Kentucky Lake is located roughly 90 miles northwest of Nashville and sits along the Tennessee/Kentucky state line.

The blue catfish is the largest species of catfish found in North America. They have a life-span that can reach 20 years, and are capable of growing to around 5.5 feet in length and weighing over 150 pounds!
