SHOT Show 2019: Mission Crossbows SUB-1 XR
Ben Ryder 01.22.19
At the 2018 SHOT industry day on the range, Mission Crossbows was on hand giving attendees a chance to shoot their Sub-1 XR crossbow. The set up was pretty straight forward, shooters were sighting in on a balloon attached to a hay bail. What was different than a standard crossbow test, was the fact that the hay bail was at 100 yards and the balloon was a bit fuzzy for those of us with less than optimal vision. As new shooters stepped up, the Sub-1 XR was consistency popping balloons, making each shooter appear to be an incredible shot.
At this years SHOT Range day, Mission was on hand again, this time showcasing their SUB-1 XR, a new enhanced version of the Sub-1.
Matt Hayes from Mission walked us through the Sub-XR:
Weighing in at just over a half pound heavier than the Sub-1, the XR is also bringing a much heavier hit, firing bolts at 410 FPS vs. the Sub-1’s 350 FPS. The XR also features Mission’s Benchmark Fire Control, Easy-Load™ bolt-retention arm, and one-of-a-kind de-cocking button that allows shooters to safely de-cock their crossbow without disengaging the safety or firing a bolt.
