UPDATE: Huron-Manistee National Forest Service Delays Michigan Rivers Alcohol Ban
OutdoorHub Reporters 02.13.19
After receiving some push-back, the Huron-Manistee National Forest Service has decided to hold off on the three Michigan rivers alcohol ban.
The decision comes following an announcement from the Forest Service earlier this month of their plan to prohibit alcohol on sections of the AuSable, Manistee and Pine rivers during the 2019 recreation season – which severely hinders local businesses in those specific areas.
The Forest Service will now delay that ban, and plans to work with the communities to develop alternate means of restoring public safety and preventing damage to not just the rivers, but the habitat surrounding them, as well.
We’ll stay with this story and provide another update when we hear more.
