Video: BlacktipH Catches Diving Goldeneye Duck Through 10-Inches of Ice

What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever pulled through an ice fishing hole? One of my favorite parts about ice fishing is the building anticipation of finding out what species of fish is on the other end of your tip-up line.

Assuming of course it is a FISH that took your bait..

Now, you’re probably saying to yourself something along the lines of “if it’s not a fish, what else would you catch under the ice during the middle of winter…?

Well, just take a look at what Josh Jorgensen of BlacktipH pulls through the ice in the video below:

He may just want to stick to shark fishing after that..

It’s not all that uncommon to hear accounts of anglers accidentally hooking into birds – my grandpa once told me a story about a bat that swooped in and took his bait one evening while he was fishing from a bridge – but catching a diving goldeneye duck through 10-inches of ice is a new one on me!

As they wrote in the video’s description, the bird was untangled and quickly released unscathed.
