[SHOT Show 2020] Make Contact! NEW Thompson Center Compass & Venture Rifles

While out at SHOT Show 2020 it is almost mandatory to hit up the Thompson Center booth to see what they have cooking for the coming year (because they always have something). For this year, we are going to see an expansion of the Compass series of rifles as well as an improved iteration of the Venture. All in all, we are looking at 4 different models with multiple variations and offerings within each line-up. Let’s dive right in and take a look!

THOMPSON CENTER COMPASS UTILITY

The Thomson Center Compass Utility looks to position itself as T/C’s new economy rifle for the masses. They are touting it as the ‘do-all, no-frills rifle built to perform a job!’ For people who do not want to break the bank, but want to have vigilant faith in the firearm they carry, this would be the offering you want to look at from Thompson Center. The Thompson Center Compass Utility is chambered in all of your expected, common hunting cartridges and has a very attainable price-point for people who are not wanting to spend their mortgage on a bolt-action rifle. With a barrel boasting 5R rifling and a 1 MOA guarantee with quality boxed ammunition, it is hard to ask for much more for a sub-$400 rifle. THOMPSON CENTER COMPASS II & COMPASS II (COMPACT)

The next new rifle for Thompson Center is their Compass II and Compass II (Compact) which will boast the same reliable performance of its original predecessor like all of these newly unveiled rifles. Something that shooters will see and feel for the 1st time is the T/C Generation II Trigger System which will break at a light 3 – 4 Lbs in pull weight. You also have 5R rifling, an accuracy guarantee, and scoped packages available. All of the specs can be read below as presented by Thompson Center.

The New Thompson Center Compass II is also available in a Compact version which varies slightly in features and size. The T/C Compass II Compact features a 16.5” barrel with an interchangeable, extended butt pad for length of pull adjustments from 12.5” to 13.375”. This should allow for a broad range of hunters and shooters with different thicknesses of clothing and statures to use this bolt-action rifle. The MSRP of both the Compass II and Compass II Compact is benchmarked at $405 (non-scoped rifle). You can also get Factory Scoped Packages of the 8 different cartridges offered, but there is no MSRP set for those at this time.

THOMPSON CENTER VENTURE II

The Thompson Center Venture II is the best new rifle offering to be debuted by T/C at SHOT Show 2020, and it still has a very affordable MSRP even with the additional upgrades it carries above the Compass II rifles. You have threaded barrels to make the use of a silencer or your preferred muzzle brake easier. You have a Weather Shield coating on all metal surfaces to protect against the elements. Unlike the other 3 new models from T/C, the Venture II does not come in any factory scoped packages; it will be just a bare rifle and optics will be left up to the end user to decide. Thompson Center has upgraded and introduced quite a few rifles rolling into 2020 with their Compass II, Compass II Compact, Venture II, and Compass Utility.
