Compete in The Amazing Reservoir Race at Indiana’s Monroe Lake, June 9

Racers will plunge into a series of mental and physical challenges at The Amazing Reservoir Race at Monroe Lake on Saturday, June 9.

The competition takes its inspiration from a reality TV show called “The Amazing Race.” In the show, teams travel around the world completing a variety of tasks that showcase unique attributes of the host locations.

Each stage of The Amazing Reservoir Race will feature a different aspect of natural history, recreation, cultural history or wildlife management at Monroe Lake.

Participants will compete in pairs. Participants must be at least 18 years old and in good physical condition. Cost is $65 per team and includes a cookout at the end of the day.

Teams must register with the Paynetown SRA office either in person at 4850 S. Ind. 446, Bloomington, or by calling (812) 837-9546. Registration deadline is June 4 at 4 p.m. Only 10 teams can compete in this inaugural event.

“Although there are some physical challenges involved, you don’t need to be an athlete to succeed,” said Jill Vance, interpretive naturalist at Monroe Lake. “Puzzle-solving and other mental skills are just as important.”
