Precision Accuracy Direct from the Factory – The Savage Arms 110 Precision

In the review, we are going to take a look at the Savage Arms 110 Precision, a factory produced rifle that touts custom rifle precision.
I will be the first to admit, I am a Savage Arms fanboy, especially when it comes to the 110 line of rifles. I have used a number of their rifles on hunts and during precision rifle training, stretching out beyond 1,000 yards.
Back in 2019 before the world flipped upside down, I had the opportunity to take part in a 3 day precision rifle course in Utah that was my first real intro into the sport of precision shooting. I came to the course as a seasoned shooter, but with very little shooting experience beyond 200 yards. As one would imagine, when you aren’t confident in your skills beyond a certain range, you will not take chances on a hunt.
When I left that course, I was by no means an expert, but I did come away with a very solid foundation to begin building upon and I had dramatically increased my accuracy. During that course, I was shooting the Savage MSR Precision chambered in 6MM Creedmoor. That rifle was not only a lot of fun to shoot, but it was also deadly accurate at distance from 100-1,000 yards. One of my friends who was also on site was using a bolt gun from Savage Arms, the 110 High Country chambered in .300 WM. The rounds headed down range from that rifle were, you guessed it, extremely accurate.
When I heard that Savage had launched the 110 Precision, my interest was piqued. Not only was I already a huge fan of the 110 line, but I had witnessed first-hand what a stock 110 that was produced for the purpose of hunting could do at range. I couldn’t wait to see what a factory 110 bolt gun could do when it was built specifically for long range shooting.
The Savage Arms 110 Precision comes in a few of the big boy cartridges you would hope for as well as a couple of the more tried and true precision cartridges of today. The 110 Precision can be had in .308 Win. 6.5 Creedmoor, 300 PRC, 300 WinMag, and 338 Lapua. One of those rounds should check the box for most precision shooters, unless you are hand-loading a special something that is not a common round in today’s market.
The Savage Arms 110 Precision is going to be a really great option for those who have just ventured in to the world of precision shooting or a veteran shooter looking for a nice factory built rifle that won’t need to be blanketed in after market accessories. The 110 Precision has departed from my beloved AccuStock system in favor of a custom stock which was developed by Modular Driven Technologies (MDT) and offers full customizability. The stock itself is skeletonized aluminum and the who rig without a scope weighs in at just under 9 lbs.
Even though we aren’t working with the AccuStock system from Savage, we are still being given the same options when it comes to customization, directly from the factory. The comb height can be adjusted as well of the length of pull without going through a tedious process. Have a friend or shooter that wants to give it a whirl? No problem, they can easily adjust the stock to suit their needs and be on their way.
In terms of performance, I’ve had a couple of chances to get this gun out of the safe and on to the range and it has been a dream to shoot. Personally, I prefer a rifle that feels a bit meatier when I’m not hoofing it around on a hunt. The rifle itself has a great feel, both in weight and material. I was able to get accurate shots down range when shooting prone, from a tripod, and during a little test run in a box blind in Texas out to 600 yards.
Overall I have loved shooting the 110 Precision and it is exactly what I would have expected from Savage in quality, accuracy, and cost. The rifle, stock with Savage’s best features including it’s AccuTrigger system, will only set you back $1,549 no matter the caliber you select.
