Apply Now for Oregon’s Willamette Wildlife Mitigation Project Funding

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has opened a solicitation process to identify conservation projects to be recommended to the Bonneville Power Administration for funding under terms of the Willamette River Basin Memorandum of Agreement regarding wildlife habitat protection and enhancement. Project proposals will be accepted until 5 p.m. June 11, 2012.
Projects must be located in the Willamette River Basin and must preserve, protect and perpetuate wildlife and wildlife habitat for the citizens of Oregon.
In 2010, the Bonneville Power Administration and the State of Oregon signed an agreement to settle BPA wildlife habitat mitigation obligations in the Willamette Valley. The agreement guarantees more than $117 million for fish and wildlife habitat conservation and restoration, protecting a minimum of 16,880 acres of important native habitats.
