That’s why we have magnum cartridges. The .17 Winchester Super Magnum, or .17 WSM, is one such cartridge. Knowing their customers would appreciate the zippy little round, Savage Arms has just added the .17 WSM as an option for two of their popular rifles in the A17 lineup; the A17 Sporter and A17 Target Thumbhole.

Savage Arms is proud to announce the addition of .17 Winchester Super Magnum (WSM) to its line of A Series rifles. The new A17 WSM Sporter and A17 WSM Target Thumbhole pair the dynamic rimfire cartridge with Savage’s A Series semiautomatic action for exceptional accuracy and fast follow-up shots.

The .17 WSM can send a 20 grain projectile screaming at 3,000 feet per second. Not bad for a round built around a nail gun case. Both of these rifles hold eight cartridges in a rotary magazine.
