Mule Deer Foundation Appoints Full-Time State of Arizona Field Director

The Mule Deer Foundation appointed Terry Herndon of Glendale as its full-time Field Director dedicated to the State of Arizona, where MDF contributes hundreds of thousands of dollars for wildlife conservation projects.  At the Western Hunting and Conservation Expo in February, MDF sold the Arizona Special Mule Deer Tag for a record $220,000 and returned 100% to the Arizona Game and Fish Department for funding mule deer projects.

MDF also has been an active partner on the AZGF’s Habitat Partners Council that allocates funding for conservation projects benefitting hunters and many species of wildlife.

According to MDF President/CEO Miles Moretti, Terry Herndon will continue MDF’s active participation and leadership on generating funds to help Arizona wildlife, and he will enhance MDF’s visibility there while also covering western New Mexico and Southern Nevada.

Marty Holmes, MDF Director of Field Operations says, “Terry is a native Arizonan and has a long history of involvement with hunting and conservation organizations.  He is passionate about the conservation of mule deer in Arizona, as well as recruiting and retaining both youth and adult hunters.  Terry is well respected by wildlife management agencies that welcome MDF’s collaboration as they identify important projects to match with chapter fundraising efforts.  Under Terry’s leadership, MDF will further enhance its wildlife conservation activities throughout Arizona”.

The Mule Deer Foundation has chapters in Mesa, Flagstaff and St. John’s, and plans to add chapters throughout Arizona. Founded in 1988, MDF will be celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2013.

Moretti says, “Arizona is a key state for MDF.  We look forward to not only working on the world famous Arizona Strip and Kaibab mule deer units but helping mule deer throughout the State of Arizona.
