Magellan Leakproof Duffle Cooler Review

We were on our way to the beach and realized we really needed a type of cooler. We have a large hard cooler that we normally take with us on trips, but we took our dogs this trip and they pretty much take up the whole back of our Jeep so the hard cooler needed to stay behind. We weren’t thinking we needed anything…not sure why we didn’t think we’d want cold drinks or cold food, but we had a brain fart, I guess.

Anyway, before we got to the beach we decided to stop at an Academy and look at their soft cooler selection. They had several options but it came down to the Magellan duffle cooler or another one that I can’t remember right now.

We chose the Magellan because of a few reasons:

Leakproof. The way it’s zippered it’s clear it’ll be leakproof and we proved that after using it for a full day. When the ice started melting inside, nothing leaked out.

Outside pocket. This is a weird reason to buy a cooler but I love pockets. The more options for more stuff, I’m all for. The outside pocket is really well made, nice and big. It’s also protected, so it’s considered dry storage. Can place anything inside that you don’t want to get wet.

It’s huge. It’s the perfect size for any drinks or cold food that we’d want for the day, including plenty of room for ice. It says it can hold up to 36 cans.

The shoulder straps are really where it’s at because where they’re positioned on the bag. You know how most straps are sewed directly across from each other? Well these straps on opposite corners of the duffle which makes it extremely easy and comfortable to carry! I’ve never seen a pack designed like this and now I’m questioning every purse and shoulder strap bag I’ve ever had.

The ice lasted long enough, I don’t expect it to last forever. It’s considered a day pack and it absolutely kept things cold for the entire day, even in 80+ degree weather.

At $89, I’d absolutely buy the Magellan Leakproof Duffle Cooler again and again. Quality product with great results. I suspect this will last quite a long time and I won’t have to worry about buying a new one for a while.

If you’ve been looking for a nice cooler for your day trips and summer adventures, I highly recommend checking this one out for yourself.
