I love everyday carry gear and I love gear that doesn’t necessarily ‘look’ like ‘survival’ gear right off the bat. I’ve been a big fan of Wazoo Survival for many years because of their constant effort to never stop innovating and never stop finding new ways of doing things. It reminds me of myself and my effort and journey to continually see how else I can accomplish a goal.
Sometimes it is ok to re-invent the wheel.
Or at least to tweak it a bit.
Wazoo came out with the Bushcraft Necklace many years ago. I was pregnant with my first child when I first tried it out (about 6 years ago) and I was instantly obsessed. How could such a tiny thing be so powerful? I always hated the tiny itty bitty ferro rods because of how difficult they always seemed to work with. But something about this necklace makes it effortless and throws huge sparks.
Even though it seemed like the perfect necklace, they decided to re-invent their own product because of the huge amount of feedback they got from their audience about how to improve it. That’s what they do, they keep improving so we can keep the spark in our adventures.

The Spark Necklace is functional fashion. You can start a fire easily with just your necklace! The ceramic scraper is strong, lightweight and sharp enough to strike the ferro rod, but not sharp enough to hurt you in anyway. It actually feels kind of dull, until you scrape it on the ferro rod and it throws sparks like a champ!
It’s an amazing piece of everyday carry gear that I take with me everywhere. Even if you don’t want to wear it as a necklace, it can be made into a keychain, can be placed inside of a bag, even made into a bracelet. This can be used and transformed in anyway that you want. It’s so compact and lightweight that it can truly go anywhere.
