Memorial Day, “official launch weekend,” and the great weather has inspired a lot of boaters to get out early on the water – just in time to prepare for National Fishing and Boating Week (NFBW), June 2-10. This week is dedicated to the celebration of boating and fishing, which happens to coincide with Michigan’s Free Fishing Weekend, June 9-10.
National Fishing and Boating Week falls during the first week of June every year. Sites all over the country will host boating and fishing events. For more information on events and general fishing information, visit boatmichigan.org and click on Fishing Information under Resources. Michigan’s Free Fishing Weekend waives all license fees so residents and visitors are able to fish for all species in the inland and Great Lakes waters.
Michigan Boating Industries Association supports NFBW and the efforts to get individuals to enjoy and interact with the outdoors. “Fishing and Boating are great recreational activities for individuals at any age. NFBW is an ample time to build memories and a passion similar to ours at MBIA, which is promoting and protecting the boating industry.” said John Ropp, MBIA president.
