Review: ITEHIL Portable Reverse Osmosis Water Purification System

When I was first introduced to the portable reverse osmosis water purification system by ITEHIL, I almost felt like it was just an unbelievable idea.
What was funny, weeks before I was contacted about this product, my husband and I were concocting a device where we buy a reverse osmosis system and hook it up with a solar panel and battery into a Pelican case for portable water purification on the road.
Ours was going to be much larger and clunkier than this, though.
A reverse osmosis system that can be charged and taken with you on road trips?
Sign me up.
Here are the details about the portable reverse osmosis water purification system:
- The built-in 12000 mAh battery can filter 27 liters of water at a time
- It’s pretty quiet, considering what it is and does
- Takes only 3.5 hours to charge via wall socket, a bit more via solar panel
- Charge it with a wall outlet, solar panel and power bank
- Can filter out a total of 340,000 gallons before needing to replace filters
- Weighs just 13 pounds
- It can even filter out urine!
Pros:
- This is a legit reverse osmosis system. The RO filter can filter down to 0.0005 microns! Super clean water.
- Lightweight and easy to carry. I love the carry
- Filter out excess water by just turning it on.
- Pre-filter attached to the outside hose when placed in the water is a nice touch to filter out larger stuff before it gets inside.
- Super clean-tasting water. The cleanest-tasting water I’ve ever had while filtering water in the wild.
- No pumping, as the system does all the work for you to pump the water in and out.
- It has two hoses, one hose expels drinking water and the other expels ‘gray’ water. So you can use that water for washing dishes or cleaning and the other for drinking. Works out nicely to not waste any water.
Cons:
- Instructions are a bit lacking in the manual. Some of the details are a bit unclear, as well. Like, it says it can filter 340,000 gallons, but then says each filter can last much shorter and maybe needs to be replaced every month? Bit confusing there.
- Also unclear are the different RO and Hybrid buttons. I asked about those and didn’t get a super clear answer. When it’s on, it automatically filters through those filters, so I’m not sure why it has separate buttons.
- The RO filter is very, very difficult to get into place. I had to push so hard that I thought I was breaking it. Not sure why that is when the Hybrid filter went in so easily.
The pros far outweigh the cons.
In my opinion, the cons aren’t even noticeable. Yes, the instructions are unclear, but really, all you do is connect the hoses, press the ‘on’ button and off it goes! That’s really all you need to know.
Whether it’s for car camping, RVing, or emergency preparedness; this is something I’m extremely thrilled to have in my arsenal of gear. It’s an absolutely brilliant idea and at just $299, the ITEHIL RO Portable Water Filter is a must-have!
